The Alternative Energy Learning Site is located adjacent to the Montana Technology Enterprise Center (“MonTEC”) at 1121 E. Broadway in Missoula, Montana. The Site is envisioned as a training facility for alternative energy students while also providing educational opportunities to the public.about hydrogen and renewable energy technologies. A 10 kilowatt wind turbine, 2 kilowatt solar photovoltaic array, a proton exchange membrane fuel cell and a battery back-up unit currently comprise the system. An electrolyzer and hydrogen storage will soon be integrated into the facility. When this phase is completed in late 2007, this system would form the elementary paradigm for the hydrogen economy – the electrolysis of water with surplus electricity from renewable sources to produce and store hydrogen for subsequent use in the fuel cell. The long term plan is to add more alternative energy technologies as funding allows.
Below is a log of data collected from the alternative energy generation system. |
